Fish Rock Anthem and some very Mallu thoughts..

Ya,I was just listening to this song ,fish rock by Thaikkudam Bridge, over and over again..Reason being,i just had my  very Gujrati lunch,I was so excited like  I had my first cotton candy when I saw sambar on my plate,ho ho ho..I just had a mouthful, and it was sweeter than my mom's samiya payasam! And Im not even exaggerating..God,how much I miss a proper meal with fish and fish( cant think anything else)

Listening to this guy rapping all the fishy names in Malayalam makes me feel like I'm in Kettuvalam,my favorite restaurant for fish. While I was in Chennai,my hobby was to find all the mallu restaurants..Find which one serves the best fish curry, from Kalpaka to tharavadu, from Ente keralam to Thattukada..I was  totally new to the word Mallu ,till I reached Chennai..And the first time somebody said.."Hey! I didn't know you are a Mallu",I went all Denzel Washington in Remembering the titans. And fun comes with Menu cards,Do you have Kerala Fish curry? Guy Immediately goes..With coconut right??? Hell Noooo...kerala doesn't mean Coconut,We don't eat them all the time, and certainly we don't sing Ooooomana Penne...I can feel my alternate personality becoming Hanibal Lector..I want the piping hot, burn your taste buds to charcoal fish curry...Finally me and my friend Divya decided to end the drama and found an apartment so that we can cook..This year when I ordered in SeaShells T nagar ,where every one is Mallu,I asked my waiter,Hey do you have Mallu Porotta?? I saw him transforming into Denzel Washington,Sorry Chetta,Kerala Porotta!!!

Talking about Fish,I did something that I cant even think off,It was somewhere in between an 8 hour phone call and my Engagement ceremony,my husband told me the golden words" I'm allergic to fish".I know ,I have been framed, defrauded,I mean ..common!! Do anyone talk about fish when they are in love?? you should! You Fraud Mallu! My mother in law, bless her heart, cooked fish curry every other day despite of  all the disagreement from her boys. But one day I don't know how,He cooked Pearl Spot ,I mean filleted, cleaned and cooked and made me a delicious dinner...So I thought Ok,thats really hard,So I decided to let go the grudge..

Because of him,I learned how to fillet a fish, without touching any other stuff ,sink and other kitchen appliances (Thanks to Gary Mehigan,And six seasons of MasterChef Autralia)

And times like these ,I dream about My moms tuna fish curry in her old MannChatti....This is a very much Mommy I love you moment...,I shall call him Chatti and You shall be Mine...

I'm gonna hear Fish Rock again!

La vie en rose

The meaning of the title means life in pink,or life in a very ideal state, optimistic about love, life etc .For me it is about the famous Louis Armstrong song, and the pink/red evenings, the perfect sunset.I heard a lot about perfect evenings, how people break their head over how to have a perfect evening with their partner,or you can just google and find out the n number of  options you have.

It was somewhere in 2003,when the planet mars came closest to  earth.I was at my parents house. My mom used to dry coconuts in the terrace,it was my job to collect them in evening just before the sun sets. And it had a better view,I can see the sun set on one side and the mars like a red cricket ball on the other side.So one day,I was lying down on terrace listening to devotional songs from the near by temple,I saw the most miraculous thing,A full moon,arising..almost red ,just a few meters above, there was mars and  whole sky was painted in red by the sun set.I did not have a camera at that time. But I froze that moment and kept it in my memory forever.Whenever I think about it,it was divine, serene, tranquil and I felt unbelievably calm, and the smell of nutty coconuts.

So many years after my perfect evening,I went on my second honey moon trip to Andaman Islands. We went to havelock,it has the most beautiful beaches. Coming from mountains,I always crave for beaches, and most of my vacations are spent on beaches. It was our first day in island, I got down from  car and  was adjusting the settings on my camera, suddenly Prem stopped talking , grabbed my hand and said, "look up,look up" and it took my breath away.It was the most beautiful beach I ever saw, added to the advantage,it was almost deserted.

We spent almost three hours till sunset, collecting some pebbles for my all beach bowl,we were like a couple of lost kids. We sat down on a log to watch the sunset,People started coming in,some alone, most of them were tourists from abroad. I noticed this couple in water, I saw them there when I came in,they are still in the same place, they seem to have lost track of time, lost track of place and everything around. And when the sun came down in the backdrop, painting the sky red ,  it reminded me of the evening back in 2003.I clicked a picture of them against the sun.

I put down the camera, and froze  the moment. Life in red, this time, nothing but love....

About a novel and the name

Granted : I am an inmate of a mental institution. My keeper is watching me,she never lets me out of her sight; There is a peep-hole in the door and my keepers eye is the shade of Brown that can never see through a blue eyed type like me
Gunter Grass
The Tin Drum
I remember reading this book,I was studying in 10th standard,It was somewhere in the middle of Feb,where the valley gets hot.Back then I was not allowed to watch tv,or any other sort of stuff my parents believed are so wrong for child development. The luxury I had is using the library and my parents private collection of books.( And playing football and cricket with local boys, when they are out)
So I found this book from the New arrivals, since the exams were about to start,I couldn't read any other books other than text books. So I hided it my school bag and started reading it on the kitchen floor of our newly constructing house. It had a window where I could see the nilgiris.I always wanted to see the world beyond that..
Now, fifteen years after that, his words are significant than ever..looking out the window there are lot of brown eyes,And they can never see through a blue eyed girl like me!
